Antibiotic RecoverySaccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii (Biocodex strain)Improvements:United States Supplements: Research: Reduced Risk of Antibiotic Related Diarrhea ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐In a meta-analysis that looked at adult and pediatric patients use of the biocodex strain, Treatment with S. boulardii compared with placebo reduced the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea from 17.2% to 6.7%. One group just took the antibiotic, while the other group took the antibiotic and a probiotic at a separate time. After 2 weeks of taking the biocodex strain (2 capsules, twice daily) with antibiotics, compared to the antibiotic only group, those who also used biocodex strain also had reduce antibiotic related gut microbiome changes and improved digestive symptoms based on a symptom rating questionnaire.
