Navigate Pediatric IBD With Confidence
Guidance and Nutritional Support for Children Ages 3-18 with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Enrolling now!
Everything seems to make your child’s IBD symptoms flare, Google’s no help, Aunt Nancy is even less help, and you’re at your wits end trying to navigate this new disease.
Sound familiar? We see you working SO hard to navigate your child’s IBD diagnosis but struggling to know who to trust, where to ask questions, and how to DIY a treatment plan for a disease you knew nothing about until recently.
This is A LOT of pressure on you as a parent.
That’s why we combined our years of expertise working with IBD patients and our personal experience with IBD to create this unique Pediatric IBD Program.
This is a safe place for you to learn, experiment, ask questions, and ultimately feel empowered to help your child navigate their IBD journey.
If you’re frustrated at mealtimes wondering, “What am I supposed to feed them?!”
If your child is starting to withdraw from family meals, friends, or social situations because of painful and unpredictable IBD symptoms like diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal pain, or constipation…
If you worry about potential IBD complications or how this condition might affect your child’s quality of life and wish you had better answers for how to help your child when in pain or discomfort…
This program designed for IBD in kids can help your family.
I can’t stress enough how being able to come to one place and not have all the noise of other opinions, websites, and doctors has been really nice.
What drew me to Ashley was the fact that not only was she educated and a dietitian, but she had personal experience.
The recipes, suggestions on supplements and a really good multi-vitamin, the fact that he needs a lot of Omega 3s, the timing on how to give supplements in addition to medication… These things I don’t feel like the doctor covered. I wouldn’t have known this without you and this program.
To be able to run things by you… And honestly, as a parent, to have you say some of these things and not me, I can’t stress enough how being able to come to one place and not have all the noise of other opinions, websites, and doctors has been really nice. You put so much thought into your course, and it’s not too hard to understand. It’s IBD, a very complicated disease, made simple for us who don’t have the education.
And as a parent, you feel that guilt of ‘what did I do to cause this?’ You did nothing to cause this. But what you can do to counteract that is you can now be the biggest advocate you can be for your child.”

Our 3-Step Approach to Pediatric IBD
Nutritional Therapy
There is overwhelming evidence showing us that nutrition matters and plays a crucial role in symptom remission and inflammation reduction.
And because IBD in children is more aggressive in nature and can affect a child’s growth and puberty, treatment, including nutritional therapy, needs to be more aggressive as well. A developing child has significant body processes that rely on adequate nutrition to fully develop, such as bones, hormones, growth, and brain development.
As specialists, this is one of the first things we support you and your child with through this Pediatric IBD Program. Nutritional deficiencies are common in IBD and need to be corrected in a timely manner so as not to interfere with normal growth and development.
The nutritional guidance provided in this Pediatric IBD Program can help to:
- Promote normal bone growth and development
- Protect brain development
- Reduce the risk of surgeries
- Improve outcomes
- Mitigate extra stress on the body
- Reduce anxiety and depression
- Protect the child’s relationship with food
- Amplify medication effectiveness
Building an Effective Team
From finding a good gastroenterologist with experience in pediatrics and specializing in IBD to a mental health provider such as a GI psychologist, we can help you build this effective treatment team.
Be an Ally, Not a Provider
One of the most challenging aspects of being a parent to a child with IBD is the desire to fix it. We often see parents stepping into the role of provider when it’s not in the child’s best interest.
The best thing you can do for a child who’s been diagnosed with IBD is support, not force. They need to see and enjoy you as a parent, not as part of the negative associations of this diagnosis.
In this Pediatric IBD Program, we’ll help you become a patient advocate for your child. This includes things like helping your child describe symptoms to providers, administering medications appropriately, supporting your child through infusions or procedures, and much more.
We’ll also help you let go of any guilt or shame you may be feeling, as your child’s diagnosis is not your (or your child’s) fault. 🙏
We are the
Crohn’s and Colitis Dietitians™
Welcome! We’re Ashley and Danielle, The Crohn’s & Colitis Dietitians. We understand what you and your child are struggling with right now – the frustration, confusion, and pain – because we have IBD, too.
Each dietitian on our team has been diagnosed with a form of IBD, and some of us have significant others and/or family members with IBD as well. One of our dietitians was diagnosed at 14.
Through our nutrition therapy practice, we have the privilege of helping hundreds of patients with Crohn’s or Colitis each year find symptom relief and reduce their risk.
For this Pediatric IBD Program, we took the exceptional results seen by adult patients and tailored our approach to address the unique needs and challenges of pediatrics. We aim to help you and your child get the best care, relieve symptoms, and increase the likelihood of long-term remission.
In this program, we’ll discuss:
The Role of a Parent in IBD Treatment
Nutrition Basics
Communication Strategies
Treatment and Outcomes
IBD Medication
Stress Resilience in IBD Pediatrics
Grief in IBD
And Much More

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Crohn's and Colitis Dietitians?
Every dietitian on our team has been diagnosed with a form of IBD, and a few of us have significant others and/or family members with IBD as well. One of our dietitians was diagnosed at 14.
There aren’t many scenarios we haven’t encountered, making us very effective partners as you make important decisions in your child’s care. Not only will we be effective partners, but we will also lead the charge in managing your child’s nutritional needs so you can trust they’re in expert needs (and no longer have to figure everything out yourself).
Do you have to attend live calls?
Is one-on-one support available? What’s included?
In either the 3-month or 6-month program, you’ll get access to at least 2x monthly group calls, prerecorded videos and workbooks, and ongoing group support. If you sign up for the 6-month program, you’ll also get 4 additional one-on-one calls to work directly with a dietitian. If you think one-on-one support would be helpful for you or your child, we highly recommend the 6-month program.
How is this different from an adult IBD program?
For example, a child has significant body processes that rely on adequate nutrition to develop fully, such as bones, hormones, growth, and brain development. Inadequate attention to growth, puberty, or bone health can result in increased fracture risk, impaired adult height, and delayed puberty and menarche.
This is one reason pediatric nutrition is highly important and the first thing we support you and your child with. Nutritional deficiencies are common in IBD and need to be corrected in a timely manner so as not to interfere with normal growth and development.
This pediatric IBD program also supports parents in navigating a pediatric IBD diagnosis and becoming the best advocate for their child.
